The new location for the Poplarville Post Office will be at 935 S Main Street, with construction expected to be finished by July 2025.
Local officials noted the lengthy process involved in securing the site. Mayor Louise Smith credited Representative Mike Ezell, Senator Roger Wicker, and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith with facilitating the relocation.
“It has been a long time in the making. Representative Ezell was very instrumental, and Senator Wicker and Senator Hyde-Smith worked to ensure a smooth process,” Smith said. “It is a relief to have a location and start date. The post office is an important part of our community.”
County Administrator Adrian Lumpkin expressed a similar sentiment, emphasizing the benefit to residents and workers.
“We’re glad to have a brick-and-mortar facility for the county, citizens, and employees. This should have been done sooner, but we are glad to see progress now,” Lumpkin said.
Representative Mike Ezell announced the details of the project, acknowledging the delays but confirming the new timeline.
“After years of anticipation, the relocation of the Poplarville Post Office is moving forward, with completion set for July 2025,” Ezell said. “While the process has taken longer than expected, we are now on track to provide a post office that better serves Poplarville.”
The new facility is expected to be fully operational by mid-2025.
