Picayune Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrest, Attempted Escape

Detectives with the Picayune Police Department’s Special Operations Division arrested a man on multiple charges following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of controlled substances and an attempted escape.

The traffic stop took place on South Beech Street near Eighth Avenue. Detectives pulled over a silver Honda Accord for a switched tag violation. During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

While conducting a patdown of passenger Montel Winslow, Winslow attempted to flee on foot but was detained by detectives. Narcotics found on Winslow were later identified as fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Winslow was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, resisting arrest by fleeing, resisting arrest by fighting, disorderly conduct for failure to comply, and simple assault on a minor.
