Peggy “Peg” Sue Walton Cooper

A Graveside Memorial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 at 4 p.m. at New Hebron Church Cemetery in Carriere, Miss.  

The world lost a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Ms. Peggy Sue Walton Cooper, on Aug. 24, 2024.  “Peg”, known for her sharp-tongue and spirited personality, battled colon-cancer, but it never stopped her from laughing.  She transitioned from her earthly vessel while at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. at the age of 65.  She was truly one of a kind.

Peg was born Feb. 16, 1959, in Picayune, Miss. to the late Mrs. Gussie and Mr. Lemer Walton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Cooper; her parents, Gussie, and Lemer Walton; brothers, Howell and Ronald Curtis Walton, and her sister, Pamela Yvette Walton.

Peg was a woman of great strength, full of love and full of laughter. Everyone she met she made them laugh and she left them with a smile.  She had the “gift of gab” and could hold a conversation with anyone in the room.  Peg received her high school diploma from Pearl River Central High School in Carriere, Miss. and worked over 40 years at various jobs until her retirement. She will be remembered fondly.

She leaves to cherish many memories her three children, Emanuel Christopher Walton, Romona Capri Walton, and Tinesha Karlean Walton; nine grandchildren, Da’Ramius, NyKaria, Jaylin, Janden, Hayden, Cayden, Britain, Ta’Liyah, and Rodney; brothers, Jerry Walton, the Rev. Joey Walton, and Craig Walton; sisters, Patricia Whitley and Paula Clark.  Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
