Sharon Cann Hobson

Sharon Cann Hobson was born Sept. 10, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pa. She departed from earth to her eternal reward on May 16, 2024. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended House of Jacob Church in Philadelphia, Pa. Sharon received her early education at Martha Washington Elementary and was a graduate of University City High School in Philadelphia, Pa. Sharon continued her education and attended Business College in Van Nuys, Calif. Sharon relocated to Slidell, La. and was united in holy matrimony to Victor R. Hobson on March 19, 1994. Sharon joined the Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church in Picayune, Miss. currently pastored by the Rev. Henry S. Marshall. There she joined the Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church Gospel Choir. Sharon loved her family and always shared stories from her days in Philly and California. After moving to the South, she fell in love with Southern Cuisine and could not wait for holiday meals. She also had the gift of writing poetry.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, James Cann; and her grandmothers, Dorothy McPherson and Bertha Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of thirty years, Victor R. Hobson; her mother, Jeanette Cann of Van Nuys, Calif.; mother in love, Martha Goff Hobson of Picayune, Miss.; one sister, Anna Maria “Rita” Cann of Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, James Robert Cann of Lancaster, Calif.; two sisters in law, Vanessa Hobson Bledsoe (Gayle) of Picayune, Miss.and Hilda Hobson Grayson (Rev. Floyd) of Kenner, La.; one brother-in-law, Avery E. Hobson Sr. (Macy) of Arlington, Texas; three special nieces, Amber Cann-Stanton of Philadelphia, Pa., Mikayla Cann and Saniya Cann of Lancaster, Calif. She was treasured by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends from near and far. Sharon will be deeply missed.
A memorial service to honor the life of Sharon Cann Hobson will be held at Baylous Funeral Home, 300 North Blanks Avenue, Picayune, MS 39466 on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 3 p.m.
