Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2 p.m., visitation from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. at East Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1124 Jerusalem Avenue, Picayune, Miss., for Nathaniel Burnett, age 84 of Picayune, Miss. who passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
Interment will be in the Burnett Cemetery in Henleyfield, Miss., under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Home. The Rev. Harvey Bernard will officiate at the service.
Nathaniel “Nate” Burnett was born on Aug. 14, 1939, to the late Jurell and Marie Burnett. A lifelong resident of Picayune, Miss., he enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, playing pool, and spending quality time with his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jurell and Marie Burnett; his loving wife, Helen H. Burnett; son, Michael Burnett; grandson Lawrence “Peanut” Wilson Jr.; brother, Paul Burnett; and sister, Earnestine Burnett.
His precious memories will be cherished by his wife Lena Turner Burnett; four daughters, Donna (James) Burnett-Eskridge, Dawn Lewis, Tina (Raymond) Smith, and Rene’ (Jeffery) Tyson; one son, Scott; three brothers, Jewel Burnett, J.C. Burnett, and Charles Burnett; two sisters, Dorothy (Willie) Posley and Elsie McLaughlin; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
