Our beloved mom, Jeane Hodges Bolton Hair 86, of Atlanta, GA, after a long battle with Alzheimers, went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 29, 2024. Jeane was born on August 28, 1937 to Willie Elizabeth Bland Hodges Mason and Cullen Clifton Hodges. Jeane was a wonderful mama who loved her children dearly. Jeane had the most beautiful smile and would light up any room with her smile and vivacious personality. Jeane loved people and she wanted others to be happy and would spread kindness everywhere she went. Jeane was a sunshine filled lady that brought joy to others just by her presence. Jeane was happily married to Max Hair for 30 years before his passing in 2010. Jeane’s profession was nursing for over 40 years but as she would say “Once a nurse, always a nurse”. Jeane used her nursing profession in a variety of jobs which were in hospital and doctor’s offices, as an occupational chemical plant nurse and a school nurse. Jeane loved to care for others and she definitely picked the right occupation. Jeane graduated from Ludowici High School in Ludowici, GA and completed her nursing education at St Joseph’s Nursing School in Savannah, GA, where she became an RN. Jeane was an active member for many years at White Bluff Methodist Church in Savannah, GA. Jeane enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved music and dancing, delighted in a game of cards and was a green thumb gardener. She enjoyed fishing and teaching her grandsons how to fish from her dock in Savannah. Jeane was preceded in death by her loving husband Max A. Hair and her parents Willie Elizabeth Bland Hodges Mason and her dad Cullen Clifton Hodges. Jeane is survived by her sister Shirley Warren, Jesup, GA. Her children Charles (Leslie) Bolton, Greensboro, NC, Lynn Bolton, Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth (Scott) Blakley, Gainesville, GA, Tamra (Jeff) Dawes, Simpsonville, SC. Her grandchildren Laura (Jeremy) Plunkett, Arlington, VA, Zach ( Hailey) Blakley, Winder, GA, Ben Bolton, Birmingham, AL, Sam Blakley, Gainesville, GA. Her great grandchildren Mellie Plunkett and Connor Harris. The family will receive visitors on Sunday March 3rd at A.S. Turner and Sons Decatur, GA from 3:00 to 5:00 and a service and burial will take place on Tuesday March 5th at 1:00 at the Glennville Veteran’s Memorial Chapel in Glennville, GA. We would like to thank the staff at the Orchard of Brookhaven which Jeane called home for the last 5 years for all the love and care they gave Jeane. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Peggy Goeller of Ourway Dementia Services for the love, care, and special attention that she provided over the last 7 years. The family asks in lieu of flowers to make donations in Jeane’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association.
