James W Stockstill

James Warnel Stockstill was born January 29, 1933, and entered his eternal home on March 11, 2024. Jim was 91.    Born in Bastrop, Louisiana, Jim grew up in Picayune, Mississippi, Pearl River County – forever, a country boy, Jim could always be found near a river or lake, always outside!  He attended Industrial High School in Picayune, was on the basketball team, then studied Civil Engineering  at Mississippi State University.  He is preceded in death by his father, James Walton Stockstill, his mother, Lura Francis Slay Stockstill,  and sister, Beverly Stockstill Creel.  Jim was in the U.S. Army for four years based in Ft Campbell,Ky during the Korean conflict.  He was a paratrooper (got paid $50 more a month to jump out of planes than the regular soldiers!! ) and an MP with the Hopkinsville, Ky  Police Dept.  He retired from both Genera Electric  and The Trane Corporation, having worked with both for over 30 years in technical and marketing positions in HVAC positions. In his later years, he loved sailing ( that water,  again!) and golfing (forever outside!! )  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Dubos Stockstill, son James W. Stockstill, Jr and daughter, Kelley Stockstill Craddock.   He is  also survived by his daughter-in-law Vicki Lee Stockstill, son-in-law Christopher Craddock, and three grandchildren, Nicholas Craddock, Abigail Craddock and Samantha Craddock.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Picayune,MS. Family and friends  are invited.
