Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at East
Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. Rev. Brian K. Dees, Officiant and Rev. Willie D. Rawls in charge of
Pulpit. Interment will be at the New Palestine Cemetery.
Mr. Grover Cleveland Nelson departed this earthy life on Monday, January 8,
2024, at the age of 86 years young.
Mr. Grover was born on May 12, 1938, in Bassfield, MS to the late William and
Cora Haralson Nelson. Mr. Nelson was raised in the church at a young age. After
Mr. Nelson became a young man and moved to Picayune, MS and joined the East
Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr.
Alonzo Dees and served as a faithful usher and member of the Adult Sunday
School Class until is health decline.
Mr. Grover worked for Brockway Standard for 50 years and was a self-employed
licensed plumber.
Mr. Grover Nelson leaves to cherish his memories one son, Corey (Crystal)
Nelson, Picayune, MS; sister, Ella Mae Hardaway, Meridian MS; brother, Jimmy
Lee Nelson, Memphis TN; sister-in-law, Sadie Nelson, Union MS; three
grandchildren, Rebecca Patterson Warner, Robin, GA, Sheree Berry, Bay St. Louis
MS; Tiffany Massey, Gulfport MS; three grandsons, Zechariah Dunston, TX, Mark
(Angelica) Massey, San Diego, CA and Monquiel (Katie) Massey, CA; twelve
great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and
friends.
Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home
