The National Junior College Athletic Association announced the annual All-America teams on Tuesday, and two Pearl River men’s soccer players made the cut. Christopher Dommer (Copenhagen, Denmark; Øregärd Gymnasium) was named Second Team, while Tiago Honorio Jr. (São Paulo, Brazil; Zacarias Antônio da Silva) grabbed a Third Team honor.

Both players were already named First Team All-MACCC and All-Region 23.

CHRISTOPHER DOMMER

Dommer was electric for the Wildcats once again in his 2023 sophomore season. The 5-foot-11 attacking midfielder featured in 19 games for the Wildcats and led the team in scoring with 14 goals. Not only did he score the goals, but he also created six goals for his teammates.

Dommer stepped up down the season’s final stretch, scoring a trio of goals and assisting on another in the Gulf South District Playoffs. He also scored a goal at the National Tournament for the Wildcats.

Dommer finishes his incredible Wildcat career with 27 goals and 18 assists.

“He’s a very special player,” head coach Drew Gallant said. “We’re really happy that he has been named an All-American — he’s definitely deserving. He played through injuries all year and still contributed a ton of goals. He really earned that award.

“Chris has been an amazing attacking presence for us. He put the team on his back at times and won us several games.”

TIAGO HONORIO JR.

Honorio Jr. missed much of the beginning of the season for Pearl River but made his presence known upon his return. The 6-foot-4 center forward was first on the team in assists with seven and took home second in goals with 12.

Honorio Jr. had an electric four-goal performance late in the season against Northwest and contributed a pair of assists in Pearl River’s Gulf South District Championship victory over Gulf Coast.

“It’s a great honor for Tiago,” Gallant said. “I can’t wait to get him back and get him healthy for next season. He’s an unreal goal scorer and target player up top. He’s just a handful for everyone he plays against. I hate that he missed so much at the beginning of the season, but he made a huge difference when we got him back.”
