Graveside Funeral Services for Thelma Janell Howell, age 86, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, were held Monday, July 27, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at New Palestine Cemetery.

Burial was in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Chaplain Jacob Gill officiated the service.

A native of Picayune, MS,  she was a homemaker and a member of Goodyear Baptist Church. Janell loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ross Carpenter and Thelma Thrash Carpenter; her son, Michael Pearson; her stepson, Butch Howell; and her brothers, Charles Truman Carpenter and J.C. Carpenter.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan (Joseph) Giametta and April (Shae) Easterling, and Cynthia Pearson; her stepson, Robert Howell; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Giametta, and Samantha Metzler; and nieces and nephews.
