Lola Mae Newsome

Funeral service will be held Sat. Jan. 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for Mrs. Lola Mae Newsome, age 89, of Picayune, MS.

She died on Dec. 28, 2018 in Dixie White House. 

Rev. Greg Walls will officiate at the service, assisted by Rev. Donald Parker. Burial will be in the New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home. 

A native of Picayune, MS, she was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.  Survivors include 1 son, Willie Newsome of New Orleans, LA;  3 daughters, Willie Mae Woodson of Detroit, MI, Joyce Thorton of Grand Perry, TX and Janice Ruffin of Covington, GA; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Beverly Gray and Mary Alice Roberts of Picayune and Joan Garrett of Terry, MS; 2 brothers, Willie Ellis of Picayune and Gilbert Ellis of Oakland, CA.

Preceded in death by parents Alvin and Estella Ellis; 2 daughters, Dorothy Newsome and Mattie Young; siblings, Frank Ellis, Jordan Ellis, Genevia Judge, Katie Mae Satcher, Jimmie Ellis and Matthew Ellis.

Visitation will be held Sat. Jan. 5, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
