On Halloween day, the Rotary Club of Poplarville, Pearl River County Hospital and Nursing Home, Poplarville Women’s Club and Pearl River Community College will host the annual Paint the Town Pink event.
Event organizer Carolyn Tedford said the event will be held that day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wellness Center on the PRCC campus and will feature a number of activities.
In addition to a pumpkin decorating contest, there will be a costume contest, one mile zombie walk and a silent auction and bake sale. Pumpkins entered in the contest will be auctioned off
Shirts commemorating the event are available for order until Oct. 19.
The deadline to book a sponsorship is Oct. 22.
Pulled pork lunch plates will also be sold for $12 during the event, which will come with baked beans, coleslaw and a dessert.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the Paint the Town Pink foundation, which provides assistance to local residents who are fighting breast cancer.
Tedford said that the names of those who could benefit from this assistance can be provided to the Paint the Town Pink committee, who will review that information and make determinations on what assistance can be provided.
