Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Green Grove Baptist Church, for Sis. Thelma Lee Poole, 82, of Poplarville, MS. On Thursday, September 13, 2018 God sent his angels to bring her home from Pearl River County Hospital embraced by loving and devoted family.
Pastor Rev. Joey Mark will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Thelma Lee Poole was born September 21, 1935 to the late Sim Poole, Sr. and Mindy Ann Tomas-Poole in Millard, MS.
She grew up in the Savannah Community and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. A.W. Parker at Green Grove Baptist Church. She was a lifelong and faithful member of this church. She served as the secretary of Sunday School, Mission #2 President, an usher, choir member and a member of the Pastor’s Aid. She was also a faithful member of the Springhill- Triumph District Association, where she served as Mission #2 Vice-President.
She attended Pearl River County Training School and graduated in 1959. She attended Alcorn A.M. College (presently Alcorn State University). She was employed by Movie Star for many years until she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Roosevelt Poole, Sr. and Rev. Sim Poole, Jr.; and three sisters, Carrie Robinson, Essie Kelley and Queen Ester Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memory: twin brother, Wilma Lee Poole; four sisters, Lona Bell Smith, Estella Poole, Rosie Lee McGee, and Sharon Poole; her sister-in- law, Lee Bertha Poole; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and her Green Grove Church family. Interment will be in the Rose Park Cemetery in Poplarville, MS. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home
