A beautiful life came to a close on Saturday, August 11, 2018, for Earl Harold Jones, Jr., at the age of 57.
Funeral service will be held today, Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Slidell, LA with visitation from 9:00 am to service time. Entombment will be in the church cemetery.
On January 31, 1961, Earl Harold Jones, Jr. was born to the union of the late Earl Harold Jones, Sr. and Doris F. Johnson Jones. He accepted Christ at a young age into the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church family under the leadership of Rev. Isaiah Avery.
Earl was educated in the St. Tammany Parish School System. He played several sports, excelling in basketball.
Earl united with his Fiancée, Tonia Abrams. They were engaged to be wedded; but his life came to a tragic end before the ceremony took place.
Earl worked in the auto industry for many years until he became disabled. He later began his own trucking company “EJ’s Trucking”.
Earl enjoyed boating, fishing, and cars. He was a proud member of the “Rolling Thunder” motorcycle club. “Shadow”, as he was called by his club members.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Doris Jones; Grandparents, Sam and Lucille Johnson, Bennie and Essie Jones. One granddaughter, Brianna McClelland; and a brother-in-law, Darryl E. Harrison; along with a host of aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his fond memories are His soul-mate, Tania Abrams, of Slidell, LA; his only son, Christopher (Dana) McClelland, of Picayune, MS; two grandsons, Christian Javery and Christopher McClelland, Jr.; three step-daughters, Shalecka McClelland, Venice Abrams, and Alexius Cobb, of Slidell, LA; two step-grandchildren, Marari and Darian McClelland; brothers, Byron R. Jones and Lamont (Whitley) Jones, of Slidell, LA; Sisters, Jacqueline L. Jones (James) Sylve, Rosalin M. Jones Harrison, Daphne A.(Brian Sr.) Jones Jenkins, all of Slidell, LA, and Clarissa J. Jones, of Fort Worth, TX; a devoted Godchild, Shantel Jenkins, one aunt, Doris (Alphonse) Landor; three uncles, Frankie Jones, Jules Jones, both of Slidell, and Henry (Kate) Jones, of TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and colleagues will also cherish his fond memories.
