The eighth annual Trash to Treasure hosted by the Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce is set for Saturday, May 5.
The annual shopping opportunity provides community members with three blocks of vendors that line Poplarville Main Street with dozens of booths offering items at throwaway prices.
The flea market and garage sale is expected to begin at 7:30 a.m. and last until 1:30 p.m. that day.
Shoppers can choose from a selection of homemade items, repurposed furniture, craft goods, and items from local stores at a cheaper price, said Pam LaHaye, the event’s chairperson and Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce Board member.
So far, 25 vendors have registered for the event. Vendor applications will be accepted through Friday afternoon, LaHaye said.
Several local businesses will be open during the event and shoppers can purchase from a selection of antique merchandise from local and out-of-town vendors.
LaHaye said the event is an opportunity for residents to come to downtown Poplarville and get their hands on a number of bargains.
“It might be your trash but it could be someone else’s treasure,” LaHaye said.
Vendor booth fees are $20 for a 12-by-12 space or two spaces for $35. Chamber members can reserve a booth for $15 or two spaces for $25.
Vendor applications and registration information can be downloaded from the Chamber’s website at www.poplarville.org.
Applications can be submitted to the Chamber office, located at 101 N. Main St. in Poplarville or at Apple’s Limited, located at 512 S. Main St. in Poplarville.
