Poplarville’s annual Blueberry Jubilee Auto Show will take place on June 9, 2018.
Auto Show coordinator Jeff Westfall said while the Blueberry Jubilee has been running for more than 30 years, this is the 11th year the Jubilee will include an auto show. On average, he said approximately 150 people register their car, truck or bike in the show. Judging will be held in several different categories. Westfall said rather than having a judging committee, participants will choose this year’s winners. He said this style of judging is the only way for the competition to be fair and unbiased.
The show will include awards in multiple categories, including best paint, best interior, best engine, best shift knob, best unfinished, best of show car, best of show truck and best of show bike. There will also be awards for the top 30 cars and top 15 trucks, as well as a Mayor’s Choice and a Police Choice. Dash plaques will be given out to the first 100 vehicles entered in the show.
Blueberry Jubilee coordinator Mark Bridgers said, “It’s a big part of the festival – it wouldn’t be quite the same without it.”
Westfall said the Blueberry Jubilee is a perfect event for everyone in the family because it includes arts and crafts and live entertainment.
“It’s a lot of fun. It’s a wonderful place for people to come out with their families,” Westfall said.
Registration will be from 7 to 10 a.m. the day of the show, Westfall said. Registration will cost $20 per vehicle. Awards will be announced and distributed at 2:30 p.m. The auto show will take place on 105 S. Main Street in the Bank Plus parking lot in Poplarville.
