5K, Fun Run set for Blueberry Jubilee

Participants are being sought for the annual Blueberry Jubilee 5K and Fun run scheduled to take place on June 9 this year.
This year, the course will begin at the Poplarville Chamber of Commerce and end at the Kloze Kloset empty lot, Rotarian Tara Rouse said.
This year’s event will be hosted by the Blueberry Jubilee council in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Poplarville and Diva Race and Timing Services, Rouse said.
Funds raised through the event will be used towards future Rotary service projects for the community, she said.
Rouse said the Rotary’s aim is service above self and by helping out the community they are doing just that.
The 5K run is expected to begin at 7:30 a.m. that day with on site registration opening at 6:45 a.m. that morning. Adults and children are invited to participate.
The fun run especially organized for children aged 12 and under and is expected to take off at 8:30 a.m.
Runners can register online at raceroster.com/17538, Rouse said.
Online registration is $20 per runner prior to the event, or $30 the day of the race at the starting line.
Participants registering by May 25 will be eligible to receive a special T-shirt designed for the event, Rouse said.
The Fun Run is about a mile long and will begin after the 5K Run which is 3.5 miles long, she said.
Participants registered for the race will have their names entered to win door prizes.
Prizes and awards will be given out on the main stage in the parking lot of the Poplarville School District office on Julia Street at 9:30 a.m., Rouse said.
