John Christian Borland

John Christian Borland, 77, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 after a lengthy illness. John lived in Picayune, Mississippi, but was also a long-time resident of Slidell, Louisiana.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John was the oldest of five children. He was an economic research and marketing professional. John worked many years in the field of economics before opening his own consulting business as a private consultant for various clients.
He was certified community researcher, CCR, by the American Chamber of Commerce Research Association – ACCRA, a national research association for those specializing in statistical data and research. He created and authored the first Trends Report for the Greater Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce and the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation in which he tracked various items in major economic categories. He also produced numerous other publications and special projects throughout the state. He was a member of American Chamber of Commerce Research Association and the Louisiana Economic Development Association.
He was a graduate of Georgia State University in Economics and Finance and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. John was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Picayune, Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Christian Borland, Sr., mother, Evelyn Wohlert Borland, and brother, Richard Borland.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Milner Borland; son, Brad (Courtney) Borland; one grandson, Grayson Borland; son, Todd Borland; two brothers, William Borland, Jim (Dorothy) Borland; sister, Kathleen (Bryan) Borland; sister-in-law, Carol Borland.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 4, at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Picayune, Mississippi.
