Man arrested for allegedly soliciting prostitution

Picayune Police Department narcotics detectives arrested a man after he allegedly contacted an undercover agent with the intent to exchange marijuana and liquid codeine for sexual favors.
A meeting was set up at a local business, according to a departmental press release.
Detectives and the undercover agent arrived at the meet point at 3:17 p.m. on Dec 19, and then met with 31-year-old Glen Paul Batiste of 552 Red Bud Lane Slidell, La., the release states.
Batiste then met with the undercover agent and gave the person a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana and a red liquid suspected to be codeine.
The detectives then moved in and took Batiste into custody and searched his vehicle.
During the search of Batiste’s vehicle, detectives located a glass pipe containing a burnt residue believed to be from the consumption of marijuana and a large red bottle containing a red liquid believed to be codeine underneath the passenger seat, the release states.
Batiste was arrested for two counts of conspiracy to transfer a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church, two counts of transfer of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church and soliciting prostitution, the release states.
According to the release, the estimated street value of the codeine was $400.
