During Monday’s meeting members of the Poplarville School District Board recognized the Poplarville High School Football team for its successful season.
Superintendent Carl Merrit opened the meeting by recognizing the high school football coach and team for their accomplishments this season. Merrit said he was very impressed with how the team performed this season and that the District is proud of them.
Finance Director Samantha Sandifer presented the Board with her suggestion to continue with Pitney Bowes for the District’s financial services, although the charges went up slightly. Sandifer said the service is used for all of the District’s accounts payable.
Sandifer also expressed the need for direct deposits for vendor and employee payments. Sandifer said she would like to get the process started in January beginning with the employees payroll and then move on to vendor payments because those will be the most difficult to switch over. Sandifer informed the Board about a new federal law that will require two quotes for District purchases of $3,500 or more, which is different from the existing state law requirements. She suggested obtaining two quotes for future qualifying District purchases.
