The annual Christmas parade in Poplarville will take place on Friday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. and applications are now being accepted for floats and other participants.
The Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual Poplarville Christmas Parade, which has been held since the 1980’s, Parade Chairman Mark Bridgers said.
“Our goal is to have around 30 to 40 floats this year,” Bridgers said. “This is a family-oriented parade so I invite everyone in the community to come out and support our parade.”
Anyone interested in being part of the parade will be required to pay the entry fee of $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members. After Nov. 28, the fee will be increased to $30, Bridgers said.
Also, horses and motorcycles are allowed to be part of the parade. The fee will be $3 for each entry within that category.
“Applications can be picked up at all Poplarville banks and at the RadioShack/Poplarville Hardware and Electronics,” Bridgers said.
All registered floats will be required to meet at Poplarville High School at 3:45 p.m. the day of the parade. The parade will begin at 5 p.m., starting at Poplarville High School and ending on Highway 11 near Pearl River Community College.
“One of our many floats will feature the Poplarville High School band, as well as the Hornets football team,” Bridgers said. “The Pearl River Community College Band will also have their own float in the parade.”
