The Hilda Hoffmann Memorial Archive will hold its 2017 fundraiser, the “Heritage Spirit Hoedown” on Nov. 11.
The event will take place on 200 West Canal St. at Ruby St., across from Southern Char Steak House, from noon to 2 p.m.
“This will be our first fundraiser that we will be hosting,” Richard Anderson, organizer of the event, said. “The contributions collected during the ‘Heritage Spirit Hoedown’ will help us cover the operation expenses of the Archive.”
Pastor Allen Hickman will begin the event with an invocation followed by a presentation of the colors by a local Junior ROTC Color Guard.
The “Hoedown” will act as a tribute to all veterans in the community and offer food and entertainment to everyone in attendance.
Lunch will be provided by Chris Durapau’s BBQ and beverages will include Eliza Jane Poitevant’s “Frog Lemonade” and soft drinks.
Picayune Mayor Ed Pinero and City Manager Jim Luke will be the guest speakers at the “Hoedown,” Anderson said.
“Pistols & Petticoats,” will provide the entertainment through square dancing demonstrations.
Tickets for the “Hoedown” are $15 for adults and $7 for children younger than 12. Tickets are available at the Hilda Hoffman Memorial Archive or on its Facebook page.
“This will be a great event for everyone,” Anderson said. “I invite everyone to come out and enjoy the fundraiser and also learn more about the Hilda Hoffmann Memorial Archive.”
According to its website, The Hilda Hoffman Memorial Archive is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting the preservation, expansion and public access to one of the largest collections of genealogy and family history information in the state of Mississippi.
