Funeral service for Rev. Cecil Jenkins, of Picayune, MS, age 60, who passed away peacefully and met his Savior on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Highland Community Hospital, will be held at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Henry S. Marshall will officiate the service.
Rev. Cecil Jenkins was born to the late Horace Jenkins, Sr. and Roberta (Lucy Mae) Jenkins on April 11, 1957.
He entered Job Corps and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1975 as an E5. He received an honorable discharge on May 26, 1978 as Specialist Four Regular Army.
He was a graduate of William Carey University where he received his BA in Theology.
Early in life, Rev. Cecil attended East Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Alonzo Dees; he fellowshipped with Cornerstone Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Vernon Robinson and later joined Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church where he served as Associate Minister under the leadership of Rev. Henry S. Marshall. He attended Sunday School and Bible Study until his health began to decline.
Rev. Cecil Jenkins is preceded in death by his parents, Horace Jenkins, Sr. and Roberta Jenkins; four brothers, Willie Jenkins, Kenny Ray Shelton (Shine), Horace Jenkins, Jr., Feazel Jenkins and his only sister, Elnora Jenkins.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories wife, Dr. Linda Jenkins; sons, Cefus Jenkins and Reginald Smith, Slidell, La and Rev. James Woods, Picayune, Ms.; daughters, Teresa Woods and Felicia Woods, Picayune, Ms. and Evangelist Cassandra Peters (Apostle Jimmy Peters), Poplarville, Ms. brother, Eddie Lawrence Jenkins, Picayune, Ms.; a loving aunt, Lucille Waters, Picayune, Ms., fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 11, 2017 from Noon until 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery with Military Honors. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
