John Wesley Stuart, 53, passed into the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on September 3, 2017 at his home in Poplarville, Mississippi.  John was predeceased by his loving parents Dr. Roger G. Stuart and Margaret Lena Stuart.  John is survived by his twin brother Jeb F. Stuart (Janet); brothers Roger G. Stuart, Jr. (Celeste); Steven Stuart; sisters Shelly C. Stuart; Karla Stuart Dumal (Craig) and Sherry Stuart.  He is survived by three nieces Olivia Stuart, Sarah Stuart and Rachel Stuart Duke (Joshua) and one nephew Brandon Stuart.  He is also survived by his Aunts Dorothy Ann Leach and Elizabeth Clark and numerous cousins. John had many canine companions over the years and is survived by his devoted dog Sheba, his longtime close companion as well as other beloved pets.

John graduated from Gulfport High School in 1982 and continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.  He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in 1987 where he was also an active member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

John worked in the casino industry on the Gulf Coast until Hurricane Katrina hit.  He then moved to his farm in Poplarville continuing his interest in cattle farming while working for a local plant nursery.  He knew all his cows by name, which included several cows he named after his siblings. He was an avid reader of civil war history and enjoyed Stuart genealogy. He loved finding Indian arrowheads and historical artifacts on the farm to share with his nieces and nephew. John was an avid outdoors man who loved cat fishing, quail hunting, and sharing his catch with family and friends.  John had a benevolent and generous nature and was known for helping those around him. He was also well-known for his outgoing, friendly personality and his embellished, humorous stories. He had a great love for his family and always encouraged them to come visit or call if they needed him. John will be sadly missed by his family and numerous friends in Poplarville and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Family and friends can remember John at a wake in Gulfport on Thursday, September 14, at Handsboro Baptist Church, 1421 East Pass Road, Gulfport, Mississippi from 6 – 8 p.m.  The memorial service will be held at White Funeral Home, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, Mississippi on Friday, September 15, at 10:00 a.m. with burial immediately following at Wesley Chapel & Cemetery in Poplarville.
