What started as a food bank in 1999, has rapidly expanded its services to now offer free primary medical care and most recently a thrift store.

Twice as Nice in Picayune’s Manna Ministries is a place where people can find essentials from clothing to furniture at a low cost. And because the non-profit organization does not receive state or federal funding, the proceeds from the thrift store get cycled into the organization to help fund future outreach programs.

“The store is our next step in reaching out to more people in the community,” Allen Hickman, senior pastor at Resurrection Life said. “We hope that the community also views it even as a safe haven to relax and spend their time.”

Just like any other thrift store, Twice as Nice offers items at discounted prices, but what makes it different is how the proceeds are used.

For every dollar spent at Twice as Nice, the community sees a return investment of $20 through free medical visits, free dental care and free medication, Executive Director Jameye Martin said. Also, every $2 spent at the thrift store helps 58 individuals receive food through Manna Ministries.

“We want the community to know that we are not just throwing all the money we get into a bank account. What we receive is given back to those in need in the community,” Martin said. “The Lord puts you in the right place at the right time and I believe this store is going to help us reach out to so many people. It’s a true blessing.”

Twice as Nice operates on donations given to Manna Ministries and though any offerings are accepted, Martin said the stock is short on men’s clothes in adult sizes.

Martin described the store as a charming place for people to mingle, shop for practically any need and enjoy the fellowship of others.

“Our goal at Manna Ministries is to positively change lives one person at a time. If this store can do that, then it is serving its purpose,” Martin said.

Twice as Nice thrift store is located next to Manna Ministries located at 120 Street A, Suite B in the Picayune Industrial Park.
