During Monday’s Pearl River County School Board meeting, the Board recognized the Parents of the Year from each school.
“The parent involvement we have in our school district is unbelievable. So to be recognized as Parent of the Year is an outstanding honor,” Superintendent Alan Lumpkin said.
These parents were recognized for their efforts to contribute to the success of the District as a whole through volunteering, fundraising and other work.
With so many parents involved in each of the schools within the District, it was hard to choose who was the most outstanding, Lumpkin said. This year, some parents contributed to more than just one school, earning multiple awards during Monday’s meeting.
Gina Lusk was the Parent of the Year for not only the PRC Lower Elementary, but also the PRC Upper Elementary.
“She has spent a lot of time on those campuses. She must never go home,” Lumpkin said jokingly.
For her work and dedication to PRC Middle School, Lumpkin and PRCMS Principal Dr. Lori Burkett recognized Robin Nicholson as the PRCMS Parent of the Year.
Next, Sabrina Orgeron, mother of student representative Seth Orgeron, also received two awards, including the PRC High School Parent of the Year award and the Pearl River County School District Parent of the Year award.
“Our District would not be the same without the relationships we have with each and every one of our parents and we thank them all for their involvement in the School District,” Lumpkin said.
More coverage of the PRC School Board meeting will be featured in Wednesday’s edition of the Item.
