Camellia Home Health and Hospice received two awards at a recent conference for providing quality care.
Samantha Nelson, Camellia Home Health and Hospice communications specialist, said that the business received the Homecare Elite Top Agency Award for 2016 and the elite designation for 2016 under the Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems review program.
The Homecare Elite Top Agency Award is based on the quality of care, patient experience and financial management, according to abilitynetwork.com.
The HHCAHPS award is determined through surveys filled out by patients. To receive the elite designation, agencies have to score better than average on 100 percent of the questions, according to homehealthcahps.org.
Camellia Home Health has been operating in Picayune since 2008. The Hattiesburg based company is a family-owned business that began 42 years ago, growing to include locations in not only Mississippi, but Tennessee, Louisiana and Alabama as well. Nelson said the company employs about 1,200 employees companywide, providing home health services in the areas it serves.
In Picayune, 13 team members operate out of the office located on U.S. 11, who provide nursing care in home along with rehabilitation and speech and physical therapy, Nelson said.
Nurses and nursing aides also provide skilled nursing, bathing and oral hygiene care to their patients. Staff may also help with light household chores.
While the company offers hospice care in some locations, only home health care is currently offered in Picayune. Nelson said that the award was the result of the hard work staff conduct companywide.
“That just goes to show the kind of work our employees do,” Nelson said.
