Danny’s In & Out Express Lube has been in business less than two months in Picayune but is quickly becoming part of the community.
“I love the people here…I’m a small town guy,” owner Danny Wilbert said.
After 34 years of experience in the industry, Wilbert said he has finally achieved his “ultimate dream” of opening up his own shop.
For years, Wilbert has been saving to open his own shop and when the location on Memorial Boulevard became available, he said it was “the perfect opportunity to jump back in the community.”
Wilbert lived in Picayune from 1995 to 2000 while working in New Orleans, he said.
After a while, “it became a place to eat and fall asleep,” Wilbert said.
But now, Wilbert said it’s time to rejoin the community in Picayune.
“I’m here for the long haul,” Wilbert said.
On Wednesday, the shop will have been open for seven weeks, he said.
“It’s moving along better and better each week,” he said. Crewmembers are spreading the word of the business’ opening throughout the community.
“This place was closed for eight months before we opened,” Wilbert said.
He said he recently joined the Picayune Chamber of Commerce to be more involved in the community. They held a ribbon cutting ceremony last week in celebration.
Part of what makes his business unique is the quick customer service, Wilbert said.
In order to accomplish that, Danny’s In & Out only offers minor mechanical work such as oil changes, air filter replacement, wiper blade replacement and tire rotation, he said.
Customers can wait in their vehicle if they choose, or go inside for complimentary coffee, water and popcorn, Wilbert said.
Most oil changes take between 10 to 15 minutes because the business has standing pits that make the task easier, he said.
“By the time you get started eating your popcorn, the work will be almost done,” Wilbert said.
Another aspect that makes Danny’s In & Out so unique is that he is in the shop every day alongside his mechanics, he said.
“I think it means a lot to my guys when I’m here every day…Most of the time I eat here, I don’t even leave,” Wilbert said. “I think it’s important to my workers to let them see how dedicated I am to this.”
Danny’s In & Out Express Lube, located at 310 Memorial Blvd., is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 769-242-0206.
