Find your next fashion accessory in town

The majority of my female friends and I enjoy perusing the clothing racks searching for the perfect outfit and a new favorite pair of shoes.
Not only does shopping boost the local economy, it also provides us the opportunity to catch up on the latest events in our lives.
However, one doesn’t have to travel far in Pearl River County to find something fashionable to wear to a classy event or a high school football game.
There are quite a few boutiques in Picayune and Poplarville that offer a wide array of clothing, shoes and accessories. Saturday, Picayune Main Street and the Krewe of the Pearl will host the second Fashion Frenzy at Southern Char.
This is a fun opportunity to see what our small businesses have to offer.
As we have heard many times, small businesses and our downtown areas are an integral part of a community’s economic success.
You don’t necessarily have to drive 30 minutes or more to find fashion, baked goods, home décor or dine on a good meal. If you take some time, you might discover the considerable amount of goods and other services our community has to offer.
By doing so, you are supporting your neighbor, your childhood friend and boosting the local economy.
The more small businesses we have, the more likely we may be able to attract families to the area who will eventually purchase a home and raise their children here.
If we don’t support our local business owners, they may not be able to keep the doors to the business open.
Then when visitors walk our streets, instead of seeing an enticing shopping opportunity, they will be greeted with an empty storefront.
Saturday night should prove to be an entertaining evening and I’m grateful for the members of Picayune Main Street and the Krewe of the Pearl for always thinking of ways to encourage and advocate for our community.
