A Carriere man was arrested Friday for charges of possessing child pornography on his computer.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the suspect is 46-year-old Christopher Johnson of 79 North Hill Drive West.
A joint operation with the Picayune Police Department and the Attorney General’s Office discovered that Johnson was possibly accessing or collecting images of child pornography over the Internet, leading to a search warrant being served at his home on Jan. 22, Ogden said. During the search a number of electronic devices were collected as evidence, and sent to the crime lab for analysis.
Results from that analysis were returned this week, showing that there were downloaded images of child pornography on at least one of those devices, Ogden said.
Those results led to an arrest warrant being issued for Johnson’s arrest for four counts of child exploitation/possession of child pornography. Johnson was arrested on Friday for those charges without incident, Ogden said.
