In the past year, Infused has evolved into a holistic health boutique. When the business started in February of last year, they only sold electronic cigarettes. Now, the boutique offers an array of natural products such as teas, herbal medicines, incense and burners, fragrance oils and hookah equipment.

Owner Charity Cosme is no stranger to running a business. Cosme, along with her husband Angel, previously owned a coffee shop in Picayune called Café Amore. They transitioned from coffee to electronic cigarettes after a mutual friend, who was an electronic cigarette user, gave them the idea.

“No other place in town was selling them so we started the business and when other businesses started to follow we branched out to sell other products as well,” Cosme said.

Infused originally began at her father-in-law’s furniture store in town. When business started booming, they moved to their current space located at 209 W. Canal St. in order to meet the growing demand for electronic cigarettes.

Cosme said many people still have a preconceived notion about their store.

“Many people think it’s just an electronic cigarettes store. But when they come in here, they see there’s more to it,” Cosme said.

The shop offers a getaway from the everyday with Asian-inspired décor, plush seats and a relaxing fountain.

Locals can enjoy freshly brewed tea and the hookah lounge, which customers can rent by either calling ahead or walking in, Cosme said.

From the start, the business has always been a family affair. Cosme, who’s originally from Houston, Texas, works alongside her husband, a New Orleans native.

“We’ve always worked together, we met at work so it works for us,” Cosme said.

Since Cosme homeschools her two children, they spend a lot of time at the store learning the business.

The customers come first at Infused.

“We like Picayune, we know the people here and it feels like family,” Cosme said.

Cosme offers more than 150 custom-made electronic cigarette juices, varying in nicotine strength.

Their herbal medications are grown in Carriere and treat various ailments such as gallbladder stones, sinus issues and heart problems.

“We make it so we know exactly what goes into them and if something’s not right we can help the customer find what works for them,” Cosme said.

The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
