Roger Bacon, Jr., the owner of Mossy of Picayune, has been nominated for the 2015 TIME Dealer of the Year Award.
The national award is among the highest honors an automotive dealer can receive. The press release from TIME states that nominations are given to successful dealers who demonstrate a strong commitment to their community, which is something Bacon and his dealership have practiced for a long time.
“Picayune has always supported us,” said Bacon, “So we do our best to support Picayune, too.”
Bacon said that almost all of his employees participate in Relay for Life and Toys for Tots, adding that for every vehicle Mossy of Picayune sells in the month of November, the dealership will donate a bicycle to Toys for Tots.
Mossy of Picayune is also a supporter of local youth sports. They are involved with the Wounded Warrior Project and host Breakfast with Santa for needy children every holiday season.
“We’re donating $25 to the food bank for every person that comes in and takes a test drive for the month of November,” said Bacon, “We feel like those are the kind of things that are valuable to the community.”
Out of the 17,000 dealerships across the country, Bacon was selected as one of 55 nominations, and will represent the Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association in the nationwide competition. Bacon and the other nominees will be honored at the ninety-eighth annual National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Exposition in San Francisco, California on Jan. 15, 2015.
“It’s a special honor to be nominated,” said Bacon, “I didn’t expect it.”
