After working for 25 years in the floral industry, Charlotte Brewer opened her own shop in downtown Poplarville.
Poplarville Floral Boutique and Consulting offers a variety of floral arrangements featuring both silk and fresh flowers, as well as custom arrangements for any occasion.
“I want my customers to know that I can do all kinds of specialty items,” Brewer said.
She described a request she received for a custom arrangement – a school bus made of flowers in memory of a 5-year-old boy who had tragically passed away. Using styrofoam, daisies and other flowers, Brewer put the arrangement together the way the customer wanted.
Brewer says she prides herself on making arrangements to satisfy her customers. Of the 81 reviews her business currently has on Facebook, 73 gave the business a 5-star rating, the highest possible grade. During the Item’s visit, a man came in the shop just to thank her for her beautiful work and customer service.
“I drove to Picayune to deliver his flowers,” Brewer said, “We deliver everywhere.”
While she specializes in weddings, Brewer will accept an order for any occasion, even if the store is closed. There’s a number on the door to call if a customer needs flowers after hours. The store also has candles, balloons, decorative tapestries and other gifts, including a flower fountain that is so popular she can barely keep it in stock.
Brewer was born and raised in Poplarville. She is a former partner of City Florist on Main Street, and is excited to have her own business again. Having the freedom to set her own hours gives her time to pastor at Changing Lives Freedom Church in Kiln. Brewer also runs a food pantry that feeds about 90 families a month.
Brewer said she tries to do her customer’s flowers the way she would like them done, and does not sell arrangements that fail to live up to her standards.
“If I wouldn’t buy them for myself, then I don’t put them out for sale,” Brewer said.
