Woman pleads guilty to mail theft in Picayune

Sonya K. Davison, 41, of Picayune has pleaded guilty to stealing a Veteran’s Administration package, from the Picayune Carriere Annex Post Office in January.
The package was taken from the facility located at 6342 Highway 11 North, in Picayune and intended for delivery to a resident living on Memory Lane, in Picayune according to documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District Court of Mississippi.
In a plea agreement filed May 27, Davison waived her right to prosecution by indictment and consented to prosecution by information, court documents state.
The felony charge could lead to Davison being sentenced to up to five years in prison, a term of supervised release of up to three years and a fine of up to $250,000, court records state.
By entering the plea, Davison waived her right to appeal or contest her conviction or sentence.
She is also wanted in Pearl River County for a bench warrant issued on Jan. 21, when she forfeited a $5,000 bond on an April 20, 2012 grand larceny charge for an alleged crime that occurred on April 6, 2011, said Melinda Bowman of the Pearl River County Clerk of Court’s office.
