Dennis De Bautte, of Gallerie De Bautte, will be the Pearl River County Arts League photography judge for the Spring Art Show, this weekend.
“I am hoping to see a good range of photography; it is my passion,” De Bautte said. “I am looking forward to seeing some good entries.”
De Bautte specializes in high-definition photography and metal sculptures.
He has exhibited since 1987, but this is the first time De Bautte is experiencing a show from the judge’s perspective.
“I am usually busy printing and shooting, so I am very eager have the opportunity to judge,” he said.
Many of his photos today are High Dynamic Range, which is achieved by taking numerous shots of the same image at different exposures. The image layers are then stacked on top of each other in the same file to give immense image detail.
De Bautte embellishes some of his pieces with brush strokes.
“Many people when seeing my work for the first time ask me if it is a photograph or a painting,” Da Bautte said. “If I can keep them asking that question I think I am doing a good job.”
