O’Neal Peters Jr.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Rose of Sharon Churh of God in Christ for Elder O’Neal Peters Jr., 65, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Jackson, Miss.
Pastor Carl Flowers will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.Oneal Peters clr
A native of New Orleans, La., he was retired from Lockheed Martin. He was a member of Trinity Outreach Ministries since 1998 and was assistant pastor. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, O’Neil Peters Sr., and Teresa Jackson Peters.
Survivors include: his wife, Philippa Peters of Picayune; three sons< Stephen Sephus of Slidell, La.; Stanely Sephus of Picayune; Robert Jackson of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; four daughters, Lashawn Peters of Picayune, Cheryl Barthelemy of New Orleans, Joy Burton of Slidell, and Charlet Johnson of Gulfport, Miss.; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; five brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014, 10 -11 a.m. in Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ in Picayune.

About Barbara Mizell

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor. Of all the contributions she has made over her 20 years at the Item, she is most proud of the World War II book "The Greatest Generation." Barbara was born and raised in the White Sand Community on Lee Hill, she has also written many short stories about growing up on the hill.
