The Poplarville Board of Alderman held their monthly meeting on December 17.
All departmental reports were approved and the most pressing issue of the evening involved court probation fees.
“We are following suit with Picayune,” said Alderwoman Maggie Smith. “Picayune had 18 month contract and we had a 24 month contract with Court Programs Inc., to process fees. They have passed on their contracts to Judicial Collections Services, Inc. Since we have no contract with Judicial we are terminating, as Picayune did.”
The board also agreed that they are putting new litter ordinances in place and going forward with the Jan. hearing for Dollar General and Handy Pantry.
The much discussed garage sale ordinance appears to be a month away from becoming official.
“The garage sale ordinance was clarified and should be up for vote next meeting,” said Smith. “The council has decided on three per year.”
The board went into Executive session for personnel issues.
It adjourned after open discussion.
