Dorothy Dean “Dot” Smith, 71, of Picayune, Miss., passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Highland Community Hospital in Picayune.
Visitation was held Monday, September 30, 2013, 6-10 p.m. at Lee’s Chapel #2 Baptist Church and visitation will be held Tuesday, October 1st, 8-9 a.m. before the 9 a.m. Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Lee’s Chapel #2 Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
Dorothy was a member of Lee’s Chapel #2 Baptist Church and went on several missions trips to the Honduras, Jamaica, and Philippines. She liked sports and enjoyed playing softball and basketball. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Otis Stockstill and Francis Pearson Stockstill; two brothers, Bobby Joe Stockstill, Donald Glen Stockstill; three sisters, Oma Lee Dawsey, Brenda McDuffie and Mary Katherine Stockstill; and granddaughter, Ciara Smith.
She is survived by: her husband of 53 years, Johnny Ray Smith of Picayune; two sons, Scotty Smith of New Orleans, La., Speedy (Annette) Smith of Picayune; three daughters: Gayleen (James) Mitchell, of Picayune, Kendra Spruill of Petal, Miss., Karmen (Randy) Necaise of Picayune; one sister, Linda Ladner of Picayune; eight grandchildren: Micah, Erica, Taylor, Denae, Colton, Chelsea, Logan, Jonathan; and one great-grandchild, Brailey.
