Poplarville Mayor Billy Spiers planned to notify Southern District Highway Commissioner Tom King about upgrading the traffic controls at the intersection of Miss. Hwy. 26 and U.S. Hwy. 11 in Poplarville. Right now it’s a four-way stop, but officials want a redlight. Spiers took the action after the board of aldermen asked him to at the Tuesday board meeting. Aldermen Bill Winborn and private citizen Hudson Holliday warned that a tragic accident will eventually happen because motorists unfamiliar with the intersection are running the stop signs.
