A Yazoo City police officer is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds in a weekend incident.

Police Chief Eric Snow says Officer Patrick Jaco was wounded during an incident early Sunday morning outside a local nightclub. Snow says Jaco is listed in fair condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Snow says Jaco was shot several times outside the House Doctor Lounge around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday after confronting some men who had been fighting inside the club.

Snow says an investigation is continuing.
