Jackson businessman Stuart Irby has settled a $60 million lawsuit filed by the estates of two doctors killed in a 2009 head-on collision for an undisclosed amount.
The families previously dismissed their case against Irby’s wife, who is serving an 18-year prison sentence for causing the 2009 crash in Jackson.
Richard Montague, an attorney for Stuart Irby, told the Clarion-Ledger Monday that he couldn’t comment about the confidential settlement.
Dr. Daniel Mark Pogue and his fiancee, Dr. Lisa Dedousis, died Feb. 11, 2009, when their pickup collided with a car driven by Karen Irby. Stuart Irby was a passenger in the car.
The lawsuit alleged Karen Irby caused the fatal crash, but Stuart Irby was at fault for allowing her to operate the vehicle.
