A judge has ordered federal prosecutors to release more information on what false statements Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr and his wife allegedly made to FEMA about their hurricane damage property.
U.S. Magistrate John Roper on Tuesday said prosecutors must tell the Warrs whether the false statement count in an indictment refers to statements pertaining to where the Warrs were living, or what personal property they lost when Hurricane Katrina slammed into their beachfront home.
The Warrs trial is scheduled for Sept. 8 in Gulfport.
Brent and Laura Warr have pleaded not guilty to charges in a 16-count federal indictment.
The Warrs are accused of seeking a homeowners assistance grant for a beachfront home they owned but did not live in and making false claims to their insurance company.
