Remains found in the Big Black River near U.S. Highway 80 on Monday were those of an unidentified animal not human, as had been earlier suspected.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace says the determination came Tuesday as an autopsy began at the Mississippi State Crime Lab in Jackson.
The remains were found by a father and son looking through scopes on rifles. Authorities pulled the remains from underneath a concrete bridge over Big Black backwater.
