Rosanne Cash will headline a Starkville music festival that honors her late father.
The 53-year-old singer will perform Oct. 18 at the second annual Johnny Cash Flower Pickin’ Festival.
Last year’s event featured a “pardon” for Johnny Cash, more than 40 years after he spent a night in the Starkville jail for public drunkenness.
There are different versions of what happened on May 11, 1965.
Johnny Cash, who died in 2003, wrote in his autobiography that after a concert at Mississippi State University, he went to a fraternity party and was arrested while walking from his motel to a grocery store to buy cigarettes. He was released the next day.
Another version is that Cash was arrested while picking flowers in someone’s yard.
