A George County man has been released on $2,500 on a charge of killing an endangered black bear.
Prosecutors said 46-year-old Darryl Eubanks is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in Hattiesburg on Monday.
The investigation began in January when a black bear carcass was found in Perry County. Eubanks, who was indicted in May, appeared without an attorney Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Mike Parker, who set bail and the Monday hearing.
The indictment accuses Eubanks of killing the bear and transporting it, giving false statements to federal agents and tampering with a material witness.
