Two men with Mississippi connections were sentenced this week in separate incidents of possession of child pornography, according to officials.
Timothy Patterson, 36, of Charleston, Miss., will serve five years in jail and, upon release, must register as a sex offender. Patterson, who pleaded guilty to possession of ten images of child pornography, will also be on five years supervised probation, according to Attorney General Jim Hood’s office.
Judge Andrew Baker in Tallahatchie Circuit Court Thursday sentenced Patterson to six years with one suspended on the first count. On the second count he was also given six years with one suspended, to run concurrently with the first count. On the remaining counts he was given six years suspended.
Patterson will also pay court costs, a fine of $1,000 to the crime victims’ compensation fund, $500 to the Tallahatchie Circuit Clerk, and $500 in investigative fees to the Attorney General’s office.
In an unrelated case, former Jackson resident Bruce Dolat was sentenced Thursday to four years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
Dolat pleaded guilty to the charge in December. He lived in Jackson before moving to San Antonio, Texas, in early 2006, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Dunn Lampton.
Authorities said that Upon Dolat’s release from prison, he will be on supervised release for the rest of his life. He also must pay a $3,000 fine.
