Breland an All-American

It has been quite a month for former Picayune Memorial High standout Lorenzo Breland.

Breland, the starting center for Jackson State University, was first named the best center in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, as his play this season led him to being named first team All-SWAC.

Then, he helped his Tigers capture the conference title two weeks ago as JSU avenged an earlier season loss to Grambling and knocked off the G-Men in the conference title game to earn Breland and his teammates a league championship ring.

And then, this week, Breland was named the first team center on the BoxToRow.com/BASN HBCU All-American team.

The BoxToRow.com/BASN HBCU All-American team is a collaboration between two major African-American sports entities, DWCommunications, LLC (the parent company of http://www.boxtorow.com/) and The Black Athlete Sports Network (BASN).

The voters are comprised of some of America’s top writers who cover black college football. The 6-foot-3, 312-pound senior Breland was also selected pre-season All-SWAC before the current season began. He also may get a chance to play pro football.
