Script fraud charged

The Picayune Police Department announced the arrest this week of a Poplarville woman, working at a Picayune dentist office for prescription fraud, said Jeremy Magri, assistant to the chief.

“On Jan 6, at 4:47 p.m., officers met with a local dentist at the police department in reference to prescription fraud,” Magri said. “The dentist stated that he had been alerted by an employee from a local pharmacy, that someone from his office had been calling in prescriptions for narcotics for Brittany Guidry and the prescriptions were also being picked up by Brittany Guidry.”

Through investigation the officer located 13 fraudulent prescriptions that had been filled from November through December 2013, with which she was charged, Magri said.

“The officer was able to make contact with the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Brittany Guidry of 287 Mitchell Chapel Road of Poplarville, the next day at 10:37 a.m., at her place of employment,” Magri said. “At this time she was taken into custody for prescription fraud. Upon taking her into custody, the officer recovered a bottle of hydrocodone in her right coat pocket.

“The officer then inventoried her vehicle which was located in the parking lot. Upon doing so, he found another bottle in someone else’s name, containing two blue capsules identified as Adderall.”

She was then charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Magri said.

“She was then transported to the Criminal Justice Center where she was booked and incarcerated for said charges,” Magri said. “Through further investigations, she was also charged with six more counts of prescription fraud later that day.”
