It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or at least it will next week.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Pearl River County residents can expect some chilly temperatures with daytime temperatures being in the upper 50s, said Danielle Manning, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Slidell, La.

On Christmas morning, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-30s so residents may have to turn on the heaters while opening presents.

“Unfortunately the last shopping weekend will not be so great,” Manning said.

This weekend, the national weather service is expecting some thunderstorms in the area.

Manning said a lot of moist air will be in the area before the cold front moves in on Monday. The collision of the cold front with the moist air over the weekend likely will provide rainfall and possibly some thunderstorms.

During thge day on Saturday, temperatures will be in the low to mid 60s and on Sunday, the highs will be in the lower 70s. On Sunday night, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid 40s.

While it won’t be a white Christmas in Pearl River County, the weather should still bring a feeling of Christmas.
