Two men who escaped from a law enforcement center in St. Mary Parish, La. were apprehended Monday by the Picayune Police Department.

Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said that on June 4 at approximately 6:30 a.m. the Picayune Police Department received information that two of the four escaped convicts from St. Mary Parish were possibly walking down the interstate. An officer was dispatched and when he arrived in the area, he found two male subjects walking along the side of the road, Magri said. They were identified as brothers Jamie Truman Scarbrough Jr., 28, 1721 River Road, Berwick, La., and Tanner Scarbrough, 18, 2115 Bayou Black Drive, Houma, La.

Magri said they were both listed on the NCIC database as wanted in St. Mary Parish for aggravated escape. Both were arrested for the hold with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. They are currently awaiting extradition.

According to a press release from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, on June 3, four men escaped from the Parish’s law enforcement center. The office immediately issued a BOLO and listed them on the NCIC database as “escaped.” All four escapees were found and apprehended on June 4 by various agencies, the release states.

Tanner Scarbrough was originally arrested in St. Mary Parish for illegal possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm with an obliterated number, and Jamie Scarbrough had been arrested for illegal possession of stolen items, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana, the release states.

According to an internal affairs release, the Sheriff’s Department conducted an investigation into the escape of the four convicts and determined that three deputies had not followed proper safety protocols and were therefore fired.
